We've done it! We're skating over the finish line, we've got the medal clutched in our fist, we're tired and need a rest. But no! There won't be rest yet, not until after Christmas, as I have quilling to do for loved ones for that day.<br />
<br />
It has been a long and very rewarding journey. I have at least tripled my loyal viewership, I have about doubled how many views this page has had, and I have a massive, massive pile of stuff ready for my next market. It's been wonderful.<br />
<br />
To my Pinterest followers, you are a delight and I get a huge thrill out of seeing someone pin one of my projects and they didn't pin it from me, it's been on a magical journey to find them without me. Art can move through the channels of our web community, isn't that inspiring? Makes you just want to make and share more stuff I say. Speaking of which, I will be starting a new board for my quilling and leaving the challenge board to sit with its contents as is, I've called the new Board PDPD Quilling, so come have a look and follow it to keep up the fun and inspiration! Seriously, I thought I would be out of ideas and totally over this whole quilling thing after this challenge, but I'm not, I've got ideas pouring out of my little ears and I'll be going strong long after this challenge. <br />
<br />
You'll see I've changed my blog header and Facebook page banner to display all the quilling challenge, or at least one thing from each week. <br />
<br />
Anyway, enough gushing and happy-ranting from me, let's get on to our last project of the quilling challenge!!This week we're ending on one last framed piece and it's Christmassy to boot.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfmQhp-YFDaJKBArf_rAaG1GnXMjudxRfbG68lE5bXgQhrhPk5yVK50QqfrCaCqFvSYKHNJOS7GDY_I-bPQdrMmxwjcHweFsyYHKK3lDGGyWXpEybxNZroLUKcwfzqNsFB78cAZBiZwvc/s1600/editDSCF4495.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="214" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjfmQhp-YFDaJKBArf_rAaG1GnXMjudxRfbG68lE5bXgQhrhPk5yVK50QqfrCaCqFvSYKHNJOS7GDY_I-bPQdrMmxwjcHweFsyYHKK3lDGGyWXpEybxNZroLUKcwfzqNsFB78cAZBiZwvc/s320/editDSCF4495.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<br />
Santa is off on his busiest night of the year, with his trusty steeds ahead. There are only five visible, but let's just agree that magical flying reindeer are probably so in tune with the reindeer they fly beside that their movements are matched, and all nine reindeer are there, with Rudolph leading them all onward. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN3ZCnon4DyMheveLRIfbeqmVnATQ4Z7HUiGh3xmnrjcsrpBi0OoA7s8kEaYgGYdsb-PcGVt0_Zao9_C19tql3-PJO_eqKreIJflGcSHmCrg6MbCXV4RE-Cgzttq3nUhlp9gLx0bNV2B4/s1600/editDSCF4520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjN3ZCnon4DyMheveLRIfbeqmVnATQ4Z7HUiGh3xmnrjcsrpBi0OoA7s8kEaYgGYdsb-PcGVt0_Zao9_C19tql3-PJO_eqKreIJflGcSHmCrg6MbCXV4RE-Cgzttq3nUhlp9gLx0bNV2B4/s320/editDSCF4520.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Perhaps this is part way through the event, Santa's tummy looks like it is full of milk and cookies!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBvQ8C8hT418j6XN-Zbl7mQmu1TCVshvVkIPwEsBuJ9mdlvX6Km8PoFuTpSf2r0mgDWEk2Lkb_-bdqFAgECrDvqwdommBKCtZUj4kAOt5MLDqe6BHGfXflse-ew6XHtGa2Oee6Y0OUemA/s1600/editDSCF4489.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="232" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBvQ8C8hT418j6XN-Zbl7mQmu1TCVshvVkIPwEsBuJ9mdlvX6Km8PoFuTpSf2r0mgDWEk2Lkb_-bdqFAgECrDvqwdommBKCtZUj4kAOt5MLDqe6BHGfXflse-ew6XHtGa2Oee6Y0OUemA/s320/editDSCF4489.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I used the husking technique for all of these, with the one reindeer drawing to create all five, but they still came out with slight differences and I like that, Rudolph obviously having one very intentional difference.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8cVXeN9NMrrJNw452wIMR67UZVdqC4gQiNTHSvutGlNS8YC2GH2BsINqU4c3ollYlSMoltQFgeuiJ2sfQBAthfG1E8YWhsjub_8AYo2DXpGSBcr9qDvZ2a13FxjopPN9qKcnNiR7gmvA/s1600/editDSCF4491.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="198" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg8cVXeN9NMrrJNw452wIMR67UZVdqC4gQiNTHSvutGlNS8YC2GH2BsINqU4c3ollYlSMoltQFgeuiJ2sfQBAthfG1E8YWhsjub_8AYo2DXpGSBcr9qDvZ2a13FxjopPN9qKcnNiR7gmvA/s320/editDSCF4491.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This is a lovely way to depict the magic and wonder of Christmas. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Trz5GyPEr9LLnV7QugpOCZGiqWiWX_33z66f6glahW352ICyjh3bscI5xJmthn5zfLPHnxTQ748wIkaLcse3fJdS-PVTsoHR5TyLTqnZRad2JO2HhR3hwKR3TWsoHdKzW1uo05rIomE/s1600/editDSCF4514.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="204" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Trz5GyPEr9LLnV7QugpOCZGiqWiWX_33z66f6glahW352ICyjh3bscI5xJmthn5zfLPHnxTQ748wIkaLcse3fJdS-PVTsoHR5TyLTqnZRad2JO2HhR3hwKR3TWsoHdKzW1uo05rIomE/s320/editDSCF4514.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'll be back soon, some time in the next couple of weeks to show you the stuff I've made for loved ones for Christmas and get some pins in that new board on Pinterest.<br />
<br />
Until then, Merry Christmas to all, and to the Quilling Challenge year, a goodnight. <br />

This week's project is appropriately Christmassy, seeing as it is now December! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwkI4rsWIuwf6pMWF1Ytz2R1iVmKEXrbwQ94RnT3qPzYmr3dd6HFeuyTVNhjT1KDEf7LSQeKwV04L2Ikewpg25vw8TznhornzW8haf-834w1Txra7LPnJWcqCaRwIFRVibOYowxskKwyg/s1600/editDSCF4288.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwkI4rsWIuwf6pMWF1Ytz2R1iVmKEXrbwQ94RnT3qPzYmr3dd6HFeuyTVNhjT1KDEf7LSQeKwV04L2Ikewpg25vw8TznhornzW8haf-834w1Txra7LPnJWcqCaRwIFRVibOYowxskKwyg/s320/editDSCF4288.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>
<br />
I wouldn't put it on the front door or outside as it could get wet, but it makes for a lovely wall or window decoration. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUAhSRu_-u7of3-wC6KxQIeguC3dhE61Rye3UIm2yvtP-T7wEGteA87zd6KtI2Lz4uDkcMEQm4zfkJBpa4UONfZp7paQyjMMeu9P39qLpDUE0v0a9I7Ku8OOKYJEiWnnVrGl21ZGnQ2_w/s1600/editDSCF4293.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUAhSRu_-u7of3-wC6KxQIeguC3dhE61Rye3UIm2yvtP-T7wEGteA87zd6KtI2Lz4uDkcMEQm4zfkJBpa4UONfZp7paQyjMMeu9P39qLpDUE0v0a9I7Ku8OOKYJEiWnnVrGl21ZGnQ2_w/s320/editDSCF4293.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
I went for a peach and cream colour scheme, using scrapbooking paper to make it firmer than regular quilling paper. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4gPQOigPNg5SIy9S2wPNhFEOGZm-ZLtzjNfr0r3QYprHIs8eNCOItVU1vQJNJ2m0I4-gvmLNEkX113ABjejT9zNILeHATIIs-jCneYw_Cfq2Gkh_c9PPQIDiIT7_Bxzzx9yl18LS6WKw/s1600/editDSCF4296.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4gPQOigPNg5SIy9S2wPNhFEOGZm-ZLtzjNfr0r3QYprHIs8eNCOItVU1vQJNJ2m0I4-gvmLNEkX113ABjejT9zNILeHATIIs-jCneYw_Cfq2Gkh_c9PPQIDiIT7_Bxzzx9yl18LS6WKw/s320/editDSCF4296.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJmCKxX-r3O5ujdGJHLYjP5HrOSNRXIyOrUDDU9RPghrFv1cyP9345GfHo-FMVphgpcsVq4Jx3oy6uiJfUpV3sMaPuKIJElTKP7qNJOfuDIbhOvIzdjJ_Zq077rSa26or5piUYmILw70A/s1600/editDSCF4295.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJmCKxX-r3O5ujdGJHLYjP5HrOSNRXIyOrUDDU9RPghrFv1cyP9345GfHo-FMVphgpcsVq4Jx3oy6uiJfUpV3sMaPuKIJElTKP7qNJOfuDIbhOvIzdjJ_Zq077rSa26or5piUYmILw70A/s320/editDSCF4295.jpg" width="241" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It was a beautiful two sided paper with pink, green, blue and yellow butterflies on one side and peach and cream stripes on the other.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixQcp_2exBrFUIOv7GV56Y3bpcO3qVPXYFTghi7uUrO1Iicbobc7ijS04fb7obS9nx8Rc9bS0TYLcE_L5p9kYMXOsArUli4E_pkt0rVPRQKnqf1KMgd6U0y0ERLBTaexYiZdzPS1Jx_dw/s1600/editDSCF4298.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="224" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixQcp_2exBrFUIOv7GV56Y3bpcO3qVPXYFTghi7uUrO1Iicbobc7ijS04fb7obS9nx8Rc9bS0TYLcE_L5p9kYMXOsArUli4E_pkt0rVPRQKnqf1KMgd6U0y0ERLBTaexYiZdzPS1Jx_dw/s320/editDSCF4298.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I did the same treatment to this as I usually do to my snowflakes such as those mentioned at the end of <a href="http://polkadotparasoldesigns.blogspot.com.au/2012/08/beach-christmas-paper-ornaments.html">this post</a> and last week's pegs, with my favourite glitter glue and a spray with Crystal Clear.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEs7sAzz1Eud-bUZqU2IYEtrf660dU5EDNc4Hbw55X5ZBapc4EMzsJ8Gam7JIKIwN1ipbS147O0UozIyCpDK_xup56F7FbhkAwPKWf-N5odZGM2CUdgrnSnK1Jj_XmHPg7wQ4aIot61GE/s1600/editDSCF4302.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEs7sAzz1Eud-bUZqU2IYEtrf660dU5EDNc4Hbw55X5ZBapc4EMzsJ8Gam7JIKIwN1ipbS147O0UozIyCpDK_xup56F7FbhkAwPKWf-N5odZGM2CUdgrnSnK1Jj_XmHPg7wQ4aIot61GE/s320/editDSCF4302.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
I added a ring of the paper at the back to slip the ribbon through, I didn't want it through the front at all as I think it would have looked messy. This works with my 'kid safe' set of ornaments for our tree, which are shades of peach, cream, white and aqua. My toddler can't be trusted around my old glass ornaments. I look forward to the day I can use them again, but at least I have a soft and pretty alternative. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have hung it in a front window of our home. Next week is the final week of my year long Challenge!! I can't believe it, and I have heaps of things left on my list to create, so not to worry, it won't be the end of my blogging I promise. </div>

It seems that Christmas is thoroughly here, you only have to go into the madness that is shopping centres at this time of year to know. As I only have three weeks of my quilling challenge to go, it's good to get a few quilled items in.<br />
<br />
<br />
This was supposed to be next week's project, but I must do a bit more planning for what I was intending this week. Instead we've got an incredibly easy, simple and cute idea to help display your Christmas cards:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTxe8SS4QU6Qd4jbniuyEgundW8bbjbjOQiZkXcnpZyowhn-uh-9IJnctwLDypbwKnHN_iNhfKhDGnY9DPnm5pJPZtovVILgQNMm8VXsV4gUeip0QVn7uSJUaURcx_3pHMUarm1j5Iu8Y/s1600/editDSCF4002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTxe8SS4QU6Qd4jbniuyEgundW8bbjbjOQiZkXcnpZyowhn-uh-9IJnctwLDypbwKnHN_iNhfKhDGnY9DPnm5pJPZtovVILgQNMm8VXsV4gUeip0QVn7uSJUaURcx_3pHMUarm1j5Iu8Y/s320/editDSCF4002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Christmas card pegs are such a nice way to display cards without them clogging up space on your sideboards or bookshelves. I've always thought they were adorable and nifty, and when I saw a pack of tiny wooden ones I realised how easy it would be to make little sets of quilled card pegs!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7zWqioe9zCCTBwfGCoTxDBzIe37TZrEVj-9HRdW5_d8_RtoDx8xz6DtkylLpcOmblCr-uqMC38ZGSLCNjkzmbVurfjs0F5k14Wv3siVf_NX_uSiT8jYp2B6mqKiDblwJtrADaYRsEifM/s1600/editDSCF4026.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7zWqioe9zCCTBwfGCoTxDBzIe37TZrEVj-9HRdW5_d8_RtoDx8xz6DtkylLpcOmblCr-uqMC38ZGSLCNjkzmbVurfjs0F5k14Wv3siVf_NX_uSiT8jYp2B6mqKiDblwJtrADaYRsEifM/s320/editDSCF4026.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I have nine designs here, twenty pegs in all, but others that could be added would be tiny snowflakes, reindeer, candy canes, santa's face, elves, Christmas lights, letters to make them spell out 'Merry Christmas' or some other holiday message, etc. I could go on all day with ideas for these, they're just so quick and easy and cute. They were each topped off with Crystalina glitter glue and given a quick spray with Crystal Clear Acrylic. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGjjkOldwrNPW4VAD2a8XU8m4h02-d3hoOUsX-3OPXNMiW00JJi8mcDkWu2SamLG2OzTZtHSXMy2uIa8V6RCFKpO07lc_ncn5xmJ5ct4LIIx01186M4LrY8dM69X9YdtWk50fVUkOPlnY/s1600/editDSCF4008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="208" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGjjkOldwrNPW4VAD2a8XU8m4h02-d3hoOUsX-3OPXNMiW00JJi8mcDkWu2SamLG2OzTZtHSXMy2uIa8V6RCFKpO07lc_ncn5xmJ5ct4LIIx01186M4LrY8dM69X9YdtWk50fVUkOPlnY/s320/editDSCF4008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the little angels...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_x5iOdJ0J1uRvEPi9UGETg2lbkfD9jDS5evFA8SFD8I3Bg_-B6QtNu4NZObAIGDtG-0JHoqUBDmvfWGJo154qkYxaIa6NDBvgeFIEjLBXgKfLhMf7xFTPv3wJkQInuIoJxDYUWVaH6O0/s1600/editDSCF4028.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_x5iOdJ0J1uRvEPi9UGETg2lbkfD9jDS5evFA8SFD8I3Bg_-B6QtNu4NZObAIGDtG-0JHoqUBDmvfWGJo154qkYxaIa6NDBvgeFIEjLBXgKfLhMf7xFTPv3wJkQInuIoJxDYUWVaH6O0/s320/editDSCF4028.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
...and the mistletoe is pretty cute....<br />

and this shooting star is quite dazzling too. As I do with my usual snowflakes I added some glitter glue here and there to add that extra Christmas magic. <br />

Super adorable right? Yes. Here's proof that despite their tiny size they can hold up a card, though these are all blanks as I don't have any Christmas cards immediately on hand just yet. If they were larger than the average size there's a chance you'd need two, but they held these up without any sign of difficulty. <br />

Next week I'll hopefully have worked out what would have been on this week, but if not I'll push it to my final week of the quilling challenge! I've got so many other projects to work on after these three though that it'll probably seem like I've barely stopped at all.<br />
<br />
If there's anything I've learned from doing this year long challenge apart from new quilling techniques and an overall improved ability, it's that this is a really good way to establish a blog, a following and help you decide if your craft of choice is for you. And quilling is for me, I love it, so that's good. Though I now have a massive supply of stuff to go and sell at a market, and no market actually planned yet! Hmm.<br />

I've been up to another crafty project in the last couple of weeks, and it isn't quilling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEienzCWJwW9_PAnwsURn_NSCterB-5UUSztdMIFhSswuTFQ145KeXt5GrEAkazzLsD-YOIyMGeOm4q4foB7p85d12cNtrwo1mB4VEnm4EQqovkkYH5F7zQgfeHvDXd1jEtbCDglAJci2qs/s1600/editDSCF3764.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEienzCWJwW9_PAnwsURn_NSCterB-5UUSztdMIFhSswuTFQ145KeXt5GrEAkazzLsD-YOIyMGeOm4q4foB7p85d12cNtrwo1mB4VEnm4EQqovkkYH5F7zQgfeHvDXd1jEtbCDglAJci2qs/s320/editDSCF3764.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
My toddler needed a costume for some parties that we attended this weekend, so for the last few weeks I've been creating a second identity for him...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA-Zvs2APbKJc0u-lvDCURYnzMizbh3xu-ecbcOw4EQfWOH3HofkUYdxZsrhnDnif-0ahyphenhyphenC2Jjdo2FjGEyYLOCnHZEdjqK9VMFHKOcqRVHzZBqRNH5yYqSzqEIhu59oXiDZfBcCmQNi0g/s1600/editDSCF3739.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhA-Zvs2APbKJc0u-lvDCURYnzMizbh3xu-ecbcOw4EQfWOH3HofkUYdxZsrhnDnif-0ahyphenhyphenC2Jjdo2FjGEyYLOCnHZEdjqK9VMFHKOcqRVHzZBqRNH5yYqSzqEIhu59oXiDZfBcCmQNi0g/s320/editDSCF3739.jpg" width="244" /></a></div>
<br />
...The felt pieces were cut and then backed with iron on interface to firm them up a bit and prevent them from coming apart as I stitched. I hand sewed the whole lot, even the hem of the cape as sewing machines and I just don't get on.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFoK50OhNzqS3OoEvSbAnQ3Sgpt_eGqVAcrqVgfEOuf2uHQAoRyhr95QzS35T_3r-r_l__g5ZbWrtK0CYxVl7-bvGItb_H5IpSiYUdBJiRenrGEm0ypP_irz2eHeZVt7aP4BGpqzmDDyQ/s1600/editDSCF3751.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFoK50OhNzqS3OoEvSbAnQ3Sgpt_eGqVAcrqVgfEOuf2uHQAoRyhr95QzS35T_3r-r_l__g5ZbWrtK0CYxVl7-bvGItb_H5IpSiYUdBJiRenrGEm0ypP_irz2eHeZVt7aP4BGpqzmDDyQ/s320/editDSCF3751.jpg" width="216" /></a></div>
<br />
One layer of felt was sewn to the next from the top down, and the shirt was bought and the symbol sewn over the top of the shirt's own little symbol. The socks were plain so I added a star to jazz them up a bit. I added some little Velcro squares to the back of the shirt and the top of the cape to keep it in place and avoid having the ribbon tug at his throat, which would surely have been guaranteed to bother him and have it end up thrown off within a matter of minutes.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL9EFHYHkxjbVd-2JhToxNAgO92uAMoxcnYGjA7-VJwKFvbmSNdlmwtdUY7KStzGHIXCT9psZzSq5ieHad6cjD0mLy8PwYIBDH27hAGMSf3CdWdwTZ0MwwfD3ER2AdnNtd6cA0pXC6ysA/s1600/editDSCF3916.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="203" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL9EFHYHkxjbVd-2JhToxNAgO92uAMoxcnYGjA7-VJwKFvbmSNdlmwtdUY7KStzGHIXCT9psZzSq5ieHad6cjD0mLy8PwYIBDH27hAGMSf3CdWdwTZ0MwwfD3ER2AdnNtd6cA0pXC6ysA/s320/editDSCF3916.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
He LOVES it. Especially the cape. he swooshes it around and loves to be picked up to 'fly' around, and on the swings he wants it out so it can flap in the breeze. He didn't try to take it off once, and it all survived the day very well.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91OwaNdnHnaA9i2v1gGAycOBGWuiI0LUh6hb05jB-aYzSQoFyEMuk6TP8HPxZGknoXNK2Azk2OshYxS2FRV-9zmZhksdY2SJEpC5yAeIt_BQSyePsLY5xgReVxo9_ZzmyfW0kCYWzRhA/s1600/editSupernatecartoonDSCF3921.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj91OwaNdnHnaA9i2v1gGAycOBGWuiI0LUh6hb05jB-aYzSQoFyEMuk6TP8HPxZGknoXNK2Azk2OshYxS2FRV-9zmZhksdY2SJEpC5yAeIt_BQSyePsLY5xgReVxo9_ZzmyfW0kCYWzRhA/s320/editSupernatecartoonDSCF3921.jpg" width="208" /></a></div>
<br />
Worth every minute of hand stitching. <br />
<br />
I'll be back in a day or two with this week's quilling project, which is the beginning of Christmas fun!<br />

This week I've taken a different approach to roses than my usual 3D quilled roses. <br />

<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And it's a pleasant vintagey sort of look. I love it.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The way I made it I ended up with it all solidly attached without being a part of the card yet. It was very cute as a sort of doily on our table.</div>

Next week I'm going to get started on Christmas fun early to get a few Christmas themed projects into the end of my quilling challenge. Only three projects left!! I've got far more ideas than that though, it won't be the end, I'll just perhaps not be quite as reliable with my posting. Unless asked nicely.<br />

I'm back! My university studies have delayed my challenge by three whole weeks, but at least that means there are six more projects still left, and lots will be Christmassy as we head closer to December! I'm finished with uni for the year, yay! Now I can focus on quilling in my son's nap times instead of desperately cramming information into my tired head. It's going to be a lovely three months.<br />

This week we've got some sweet little 'buzzies' as my toddler calls them...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Bees are lovely. So interesting and colourful. <br />
<br />

<br />
Five quilled bees, and the rest are drawn on, and then the hive is made of quilling paper too. I put some shimmer and glitter on their little wings to make them extra special.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
They make me happy, and they're in short supply these days! My husband and I want to have bees when we're old and our kiddies are all grown.<br />
<br />

So happy to be back!<br />

This week we've got one of my favourite Australian animals, the koala. <br />

This was fun to make and I'm already halfway through another, I want to keep one because they're just so cute. <br />

<br />
<br />
This project was inspired by a spontaneous meeting I had with a koala a few weeks ago not far from my house. They're a precious animal and we all need to take care of them as they're a threatened species, so please go right now and Google your area's koala rescue service, and put the number in your phone just in case you find a koala in need of help!<br />

I was going to glue his eucalyptus leaves in place, but I like having it so that he can hold it or go without or whatever looks most adorable.<br />

<br />
Have I given you enough cuteness yet? Next week I'm going to have to postpone thanks to my uni studies, as my sanity is hanging in there by a threat, but I promise I'll be back with something fantastic.<br />

After this week there are only seven projects until the end of my 52 weeks challenge! I can't believe I it, I hadn't noticed that until today. It's gone so quickly, and I certainly have more than seven projects left on my list of ideas, so don't worry, I'll still be quilling and posting after the challenge is complete, just maybe not as often.<br />
<br />
This week we've got some lovely lavender cards.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIBq_Kd19y9j2_1edrdOoU_HVhETSokSQDkq0BW9YTO0Xxl4duC8slbF5XvjYwIrIUOHegTm6XGNoXfqYbNCMdRIHh6b851gkHanM8unebJkzVw1TWXo72YGjkW56eK12V-TH7XnnNDmU/s1600/editDSCF3200.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="277" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIBq_Kd19y9j2_1edrdOoU_HVhETSokSQDkq0BW9YTO0Xxl4duC8slbF5XvjYwIrIUOHegTm6XGNoXfqYbNCMdRIHh6b851gkHanM8unebJkzVw1TWXo72YGjkW56eK12V-TH7XnnNDmU/s320/editDSCF3200.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

...and on the smaller one we've got a bunch of them on a nice metallic purple background.<br />

<br />
<br />
These are lovely and simple, yet all those little purple dots end up taking a lot of time! I didn't expect they'd be all that time consuming.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
They're very softly feminine. I loved the different shades of purple I used in this card, the purple section of my paper supplier's range is one of my favourites (the blue range is the best though - and I seem to be constantly needing more green!)<br />
<br />
<br />
Next week we've got another 3D quilling project inspired by a furry friend I made a few weeks ago...<br />
<br />
Remember that even if I am nearly done with my year of quilling challenge I am happy to hear any suggestions you have of other quilling project ideas you'd like to see me tackle. I am also happy to do some more 'how to' posts with step by step photos by request, I might do a how to on another 3D project I have planned for around Christmas time.<br />

I'm finally fitting in another request subject this week, and it's one that two people actually suggested. Let's see if I have met people's expectations shall we?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwVFNre1jbIO6-IwIecc44wlly0B0rZlKSws5MgaPLu8aaXK3GINI1lZa2cQjKC1Q5BiArbUNcj-z7faIFYYJCXfw4ly1mo557iGucKmc50NbQL26Lyy7v5rEs9XtEWrjNP4SiMlRI9n4/s1600/editDSCF3183.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjwVFNre1jbIO6-IwIecc44wlly0B0rZlKSws5MgaPLu8aaXK3GINI1lZa2cQjKC1Q5BiArbUNcj-z7faIFYYJCXfw4ly1mo557iGucKmc50NbQL26Lyy7v5rEs9XtEWrjNP4SiMlRI9n4/s320/editDSCF3183.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
He's red and scary, at least for a dragon that hasn't got his fangs out. And he's got a bit of a belly on him. But you're intimidated, right? Even the cute dragons can breathe fire. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjGg2hi9mEQaNgIZLkJxm9geEqgwGDZ0xjuC9jYItX7GZzQXunlAk_xqY6jTbJGvSKRk7OrT7MXVaeV_Swmtf7YvKBbHzrCpPsHvQqAV6pepQ50M-9wRJ3onedsniSAheXvYiFvIF5lBY/s1600/editDSCF3155.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjGg2hi9mEQaNgIZLkJxm9geEqgwGDZ0xjuC9jYItX7GZzQXunlAk_xqY6jTbJGvSKRk7OrT7MXVaeV_Swmtf7YvKBbHzrCpPsHvQqAV6pepQ50M-9wRJ3onedsniSAheXvYiFvIF5lBY/s320/editDSCF3155.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Here he is before he became all colourful. I went with red as it's the colour I immediately imagine when I think of dragons. I suppose he'd look equally lovely in green or blue.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This week we have a beautiful young lady wearing a long red dress, with a rose in her hair.</div>

<br />
<br />
I love the rich red I used for the bulk of the dress, and the rose and scalloped edge on her back is a metallic red for a subtle contrast.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHU2aPRDIz9szL6-_9UJY92SXKQcN86AT35lCQ4jwYqjZSL-5iCAR_56ZLcX0ZGLWebNvqgN8WU05lzwOigEL4ic2gUa9tORd7_wtBo4RxJL08QF4aOYlE4QMDpWl9Nh4gjF9n6xld0pA/s1600/editDSCF3108.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgHU2aPRDIz9szL6-_9UJY92SXKQcN86AT35lCQ4jwYqjZSL-5iCAR_56ZLcX0ZGLWebNvqgN8WU05lzwOigEL4ic2gUa9tORd7_wtBo4RxJL08QF4aOYlE4QMDpWl9Nh4gjF9n6xld0pA/s320/editDSCF3108.jpg" width="246" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I could see making a few more of these in different colours, but sadly I am out of this size in my cards, so I guess I'll just have to go shopping...how sad...<br />
<br />

<br />
Keeping it short and sweet this week. Next week will be another framed piece, it's a simple design with another inspiring message.<br />

I'm a week late again, and this time I'm not going to try and catch up. My university courses are demanding a lot of me right now, like too much, and if I try to catch up I will compromise the quality of what I am making, and that wasn't the point of this year long quilling challenge. I wanted to make good quality stuff that would improve my skills and give you all some pretty things to look at and for my buyers to take home, so the one per week thing is the only part I'm willing to modify. I won't be catching up, I'll just add an extra week to the end date each time this happens, which could happen a few more times as one of my teachers seems to think that I can simply quit sleeping if I'm having trouble keeping up.<br />
<br />
Anyway, moving on to the project! I have made a peacock card before, a very long time ago and it was a very simplistic design, so with this one I went detailed and as real as my paper supply would allow, and I just love him. He's gorgeous, elegant and dignified.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ZUK71gCGzv1Z-5mODu2OxVARNUVPgyZoMtq10eTZn8KKeasrGlKtQuc9TzfvbWR_c4SbfJEaJZfM6a5uhZeema-WIpNpeDP2IrUkCOFt3iduzzpGc3uRAd1pCvh2trdiX68UMR1yfBk/s1600/editDSCF3086.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj2ZUK71gCGzv1Z-5mODu2OxVARNUVPgyZoMtq10eTZn8KKeasrGlKtQuc9TzfvbWR_c4SbfJEaJZfM6a5uhZeema-WIpNpeDP2IrUkCOFt3iduzzpGc3uRAd1pCvh2trdiX68UMR1yfBk/s320/editDSCF3086.jpg" width="308" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Isn't he magnificent? I just love when an idea in my head actually comes out right on the page. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsKAj28skKTGC5L3bbYNTKyD9iHPhSJVVPZpsk_Jy9JDcr_BBpDIMWM2NoAx2OQBNEDd1p2cXmUO-gcIDY7L-0nYxrosVaJZn56dnqlLZbMq_QiCY1ORdzb29M6BSYU4hP2-9WLhjPwdw/s1600/peacock+making+process.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsKAj28skKTGC5L3bbYNTKyD9iHPhSJVVPZpsk_Jy9JDcr_BBpDIMWM2NoAx2OQBNEDd1p2cXmUO-gcIDY7L-0nYxrosVaJZn56dnqlLZbMq_QiCY1ORdzb29M6BSYU4hP2-9WLhjPwdw/s640/peacock+making+process.jpg" width="192" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Here's a little look at him as he was being made, you'll see I started with the head and worked my way down. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT-77s4cXWye3XtZ3DvZe6ffJFGV8d1MfIoD5j-IVwWB6qs95GxSxfn4lfGgYwDiXXKUL-wyIKOd4M-2LjRekmuq3FC0w1v1qVU4-dwWChDYN_w6SVxlXW9qrYTSqQiZtShhSOND0xVWQ/s1600/editDSCF3078.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT-77s4cXWye3XtZ3DvZe6ffJFGV8d1MfIoD5j-IVwWB6qs95GxSxfn4lfGgYwDiXXKUL-wyIKOd4M-2LjRekmuq3FC0w1v1qVU4-dwWChDYN_w6SVxlXW9qrYTSqQiZtShhSOND0xVWQ/s320/editDSCF3078.jpg" width="217" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
There's a zoo not far from by house in which there used to be peacocks that would frequently escape, there was a number of times that I had to stop as I drove past to wait for ones like this to cross the road...I haven't seen any out in a couple of years, I assume they have worked out how to stop this for the safety of the birds, wouldn't want one to get hurt!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKXqfkyDO__O-q9VwiSdKVffjds_KR3Ykt6FwhXdNP_figcSLG-nyIjQspFaPqAQSszXi7ZL6MlihtJMhOBniJfIFDEskXif8ReBCDlrxJGAuNB7LZDhPSIII-zLiMyNy4W4wiftMCkGs/s1600/editDSCF3085.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhKXqfkyDO__O-q9VwiSdKVffjds_KR3Ykt6FwhXdNP_figcSLG-nyIjQspFaPqAQSszXi7ZL6MlihtJMhOBniJfIFDEskXif8ReBCDlrxJGAuNB7LZDhPSIII-zLiMyNy4W4wiftMCkGs/s320/editDSCF3085.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The colours are so vivid, it's wonderful that nature creates these colours, and wonderful that my quilling paper managed to mimic them too!<br />

He took a long time to make, time I didn't have, but he has been a wonderful creative outlet and I'm sure will catch people's eyes at the next market. <br />

See you for week Forty-Two, whenever that turns out to be!<br />

Only one day late, I'm catching up!<br />
<br />
This week's post is inspired by the quote included, using words from a poem called 'Just In' by E.E. Cummings, and frequently paraphrased thusly: "The world is mud-luscious and puddle-wonderful". <br />

So, I'm over a week late, but as no one asked I'm not explaining why, HA!<br />

It seems that plenty of people have been visiting the blog anyway, so that's lovely, nice to know that my little place can hum along on its own without me. Let's get on with it then.<br />

This (or last) week I've used my butterfly technique to make some pretty dragonfly cards. <br />

Those of you from Brisbane will already know why I've chosen to create a Ferris Wheel this week, but for those reading from afar, this week will see the start of the Brisbane Exhibition, otherwise known as the Ekka. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZuOn4k1MvbPTHb3EDjOLaWMe5lyoh5pLtb04f1q8ocqGiLbbe1HB9kl9AEmtkK5vAi6fZNKAkKpWfIFlAuvVorhYZlPMRKaw3UQ0oH1XPI_7dLl8XdXN17J2fNghVDyktyqgqkHbkYtU/s1600/editDSCF2480.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZuOn4k1MvbPTHb3EDjOLaWMe5lyoh5pLtb04f1q8ocqGiLbbe1HB9kl9AEmtkK5vAi6fZNKAkKpWfIFlAuvVorhYZlPMRKaw3UQ0oH1XPI_7dLl8XdXN17J2fNghVDyktyqgqkHbkYtU/s320/editDSCF2480.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The quote came first, and the ferris wheel popped into my head as I read it, and I just had to make it right away. It's actually been made for about a month, but I wanted to save it for the Ekka theme, but it's been hard keeping it a secret!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ligHsZp-ocr2TqSKAZg29vOrqXBe2m31C8_iR_tQOTA6EeGAtGy2TDivInKnwRjtWgYw96_1q5OpZMDM3iXqfXnzFiMRT6H8m14eU6bEJbSsbe_nG7m5fWsttRyOHn3B90HazLa46gE/s1600/editDSCF2481.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5ligHsZp-ocr2TqSKAZg29vOrqXBe2m31C8_iR_tQOTA6EeGAtGy2TDivInKnwRjtWgYw96_1q5OpZMDM3iXqfXnzFiMRT6H8m14eU6bEJbSsbe_nG7m5fWsttRyOHn3B90HazLa46gE/s320/editDSCF2481.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
It won't fit behind glass unfortunately, but personally I think that would reduce the impact of the piece. I love this sooo much, both image and sentiment, I think I might keep the original, but I'm sure I'll make more to sell!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDoZ3rXHczhy3Ok_jDxqrZscX1eCegp301f81shr4zRSpUgkEK7n7Ded1k2MmiCAB8dT4E67C3uadF5MlSEK2JoCC52UvKr5b2WJQ0UDvST7ZfBiDAuWbhkXHy0JBmPJZs7NtIS6zTOeQ/s1600/editDSCF2485.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="216" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjDoZ3rXHczhy3Ok_jDxqrZscX1eCegp301f81shr4zRSpUgkEK7n7Ded1k2MmiCAB8dT4E67C3uadF5MlSEK2JoCC52UvKr5b2WJQ0UDvST7ZfBiDAuWbhkXHy0JBmPJZs7NtIS6zTOeQ/s320/editDSCF2485.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I used plain/metallic scrapbooking paper for the structure of the Ferris wheel and the carriages, then silver quilling paper for the actual wheel, and more quilling paper to edge the carriages and the love heart at the centre of the Wheel. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxAgFIyYgxGehhsX8r7q2-j7cIW5gTjZfTEjJ6siiQR3c6oMEARq8zmDm02k_0QE99q0uTh2JB4gI_vAvlYZsB9EiMgvBqvKcTwGPSP3Fj6cYqkVLeCexP10wQKPqTuW7ZZn_NE3Bmj8A/s1600/editDSCF2484.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxAgFIyYgxGehhsX8r7q2-j7cIW5gTjZfTEjJ6siiQR3c6oMEARq8zmDm02k_0QE99q0uTh2JB4gI_vAvlYZsB9EiMgvBqvKcTwGPSP3Fj6cYqkVLeCexP10wQKPqTuW7ZZn_NE3Bmj8A/s320/editDSCF2484.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I wanted the quote to be small and in a simple sort of font, so as to not compete for the initial impact of the quilling.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQDfy83Aekb8cYAUe3EBMo0ejM1JiXG3zoXQNU-jiMKbxXbX3L9rvxvfmNkMVHJY1t3esoZWLksIX5XMk5BKzkr61MYK9IZqk_8xLsBAbal6mtnOK_n1BQ041eYA1961hdItDFdEnpZus/s1600/editDSCF2834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQDfy83Aekb8cYAUe3EBMo0ejM1JiXG3zoXQNU-jiMKbxXbX3L9rvxvfmNkMVHJY1t3esoZWLksIX5XMk5BKzkr61MYK9IZqk_8xLsBAbal6mtnOK_n1BQ041eYA1961hdItDFdEnpZus/s320/editDSCF2834.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I went for softer, pastel colours in a bit of a rainbow colour scheme, though I think one with shades of red and pink would also work.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx2CnyMfbr3PMD8cpRSVWnucLuYysX1_olYOwtKm8IDTobmbMUggDkDspOPDfqlK1t0NE1259m_VJPTAl3votnGOEs6ji-NS8Xkoeie3Pfor070CQn9hNs7fI6GJzcehwkbNoA53KCAQc/s1600/editDSCF2831.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhx2CnyMfbr3PMD8cpRSVWnucLuYysX1_olYOwtKm8IDTobmbMUggDkDspOPDfqlK1t0NE1259m_VJPTAl3votnGOEs6ji-NS8Xkoeie3Pfor070CQn9hNs7fI6GJzcehwkbNoA53KCAQc/s320/editDSCF2831.jpg" width="264" /></a></div>

Many people like to have their child's name or initial done up in an artistic piece for their bedroom wall, or maybe the family's surname initial to add to a beautiful wall of family photos.<br />

I went for a minty-aqua colour for this piece, I think with the white it's a very fresh sort of look.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Next week's piece is already done, and I've decided it's my favourite so far! I read the quote somewhere and the image came to me right away, and I just had to make it while it was fresh in my mind! So excited for you to see it, but I'll hold off for next week when it's actually due.<br />

Sorry I'm late this week, I'm back at uni and it's been keeping me very busy!<br />
<br />
This week I've made my second mask and it's a dramatic purple ombre this time! Trying to get a few of these for the next markets I'll be in, though none are officially scheduled, there is a possibility for Christmas time...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
And look, they're on sticks now! <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
I decided that the stick option worked better than ribbon as what beautiful lady would want a mask that interferes with her hair? The result is very elegant and sophisticated, and looks so natural displayed in a vase don't you think? I just bought a long piece of dowel from Spotlight, measured, marked and had my hubby cut it up, then I got all sandy and painty. <br />
<br />

So many ideas for these. And it was easier this time, so hopefully I'll get faster at it each time.<br />

The fantastic thing about these husked butterflies for this purpose is that they are so light and seem to catch the teeniest tiniest breeze, so it's basically constantly moving, which is perfect for the little bubby watching, it's quite mesmerising and so happy and bright. <br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
I've used the classic husking technique as displayed in <a href="http://polkadotparasoldesigns.blogspot.com.au/2013/01/week-seven-husked-butterfly.html">Week 7</a>, in various sizes and all the basic colours of the rainbow. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS37Ba6TP9cCQjf9e2lqM_3iZaq4aZ4HJTzJtmDIEk6I629DR2DmiHVhvvpj0sLoQf4R3imHpm9BzID44fuPk9dIitq17nm0mTCu87gy49d0Ve3wz6FSgVDDPmNZo_Psq0h0qZC5oL1qo/s1600/editDSCF2518.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="227" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS37Ba6TP9cCQjf9e2lqM_3iZaq4aZ4HJTzJtmDIEk6I629DR2DmiHVhvvpj0sLoQf4R3imHpm9BzID44fuPk9dIitq17nm0mTCu87gy49d0Ve3wz6FSgVDDPmNZo_Psq0h0qZC5oL1qo/s320/editDSCF2518.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The frame is made of the inside ring of embroidery hoops of two sizes, and I've painted them with a pearlescent white paint, then it's all put together with white embroidery thread, nice and thick to hold up the rings but one strand thick for the pretty butterflies. I've sealed the knots with fabric glue to avoid it unravelling, and I've sprayed the butterflies with 'preserve it' to avoid colour fading and make them a little tougher. And it's all held up by a simple silver ring. <br />
<br />
I've seen ways to make the structure to attach it to a crib, but as it's so delicate I would suggest hanging it from a hook in the ceiling would be much better, and you can add string to the ring to have it lower down without it ending up within reach of your little munchkin/s as even a baby would crush these within seconds.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUZL_33hueEfw4Y2NUrxXrob81ExnPHaHbKm2yRDoUfFXoK5wauqisa8E1osVs4aT9C92W6v9WqJwG5TPvMUYXhukORnsjMqIWC-QSnWRCY3WF8Fw-lGYka2Jp7VDFouXvRsZpYTFxH6I/s1600/editDSCF2499.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUZL_33hueEfw4Y2NUrxXrob81ExnPHaHbKm2yRDoUfFXoK5wauqisa8E1osVs4aT9C92W6v9WqJwG5TPvMUYXhukORnsjMqIWC-QSnWRCY3WF8Fw-lGYka2Jp7VDFouXvRsZpYTFxH6I/s320/editDSCF2499.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a shot of what the little ones will see...</div>
<br />
It was hard to pick a photo of this nursery mobile, as the breeze changed it so often that each picture was different in a lovely way. Getting this to hang evenly was the hardest part of this project I must say, it took a few tries and lots of wasted thread, but now I've got the hang of it I am sure I won't have so much trouble in the future.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaMFWO15UsUisZG8lUNWa_35LOdGbjVZUtFC8qO4hM8vD2TCIGIuUWVKIeg78S1ePUJ-mnT7xwxPeQlCnSxc28Jm120isiZj87ic_I1JNNnCck0rVEwNSMy2VDreRM0ZBXlVwct-BPbU8/s1600/editDSCF2516.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaMFWO15UsUisZG8lUNWa_35LOdGbjVZUtFC8qO4hM8vD2TCIGIuUWVKIeg78S1ePUJ-mnT7xwxPeQlCnSxc28Jm120isiZj87ic_I1JNNnCck0rVEwNSMy2VDreRM0ZBXlVwct-BPbU8/s320/editDSCF2516.jpg" width="180" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
So, that was lovely wasn't it? Makes you wish there were more real live butterflies around. We should do something about that. Having said that I found one in my kitchen last week, perhaps she saw these others and knew we were butterfly-friendly. Anyway, next week we're going to see something really purple!<br />

<br />
This design is fairly simple in terms of the quilling, bubbles don't take much to look good, but what is great about them is the impact of lots and lots of them! I've got them gradually increasing in size on this one.<br />
<br />

I think he looks a little like Christopher Robin, don't you? I think it's that scruffy head of hair.<br />

<br />
<br />
H. Jackson Brown has some fantastic quotes, I'll be doing others with his wisdom involved, all taken from a book I own that he wrote called 'Life's little instruction book'. It was written for his son, so I think it's quite fitting that we've got a boy involved in this piece. <br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
The bubbles are in all the colours you might see in the surface of a real bubble.<br />
<br />
<br />
We've got lots more framed pieces coming up in the next couple of months, all to end up for sale along with masks and other items on my madeit page (currently under construction, will put up a link when it's up and going again).<br />
<br />
<br />
Next week though we're not doing something framed or a mask or a card! It's something very special and beautiful, for which I've left a photo clue on the Facebook page...<br />

Dum-dum-da-dum, Dum-dum-da-dum...<br />
<br />
This week I've made some bridal gown cards for weddings or bridal showers, they're easy to make and can look really special and sweet for the couple or bride-to-be. I sometimes add a rub-on 'congratulations' to them, but this time I've left them word free so the buyers can say whatever they want. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
We've got this big swirly wirly pearly gown....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIQep6ZERbm1Ci6gNKwgN7lKjxeFGMFg-cOrLxlKGuaLHCOk-8QGLr1A3JokPlBDgl8hK-BD5XLq2cp0PlZx410Z9_v8yDHXwxS0QIMazdI99Q6lxV7-76FptlIj0zw4yDReuU553aNSo/s1600/editDSCF2360.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiIQep6ZERbm1Ci6gNKwgN7lKjxeFGMFg-cOrLxlKGuaLHCOk-8QGLr1A3JokPlBDgl8hK-BD5XLq2cp0PlZx410Z9_v8yDHXwxS0QIMazdI99Q6lxV7-76FptlIj0zw4yDReuU553aNSo/s320/editDSCF2360.jpg" width="231" /></a></div>
<br />
....This feathery fluffy gown with 'something blue'...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpn20ytcdjsRxkiTZTvQQoLJ2zfB8vPPX1X4EAWSEHyvWgKdPnuOTaVj1gnSaBlAt7OrHc02JfrK-hiJ-0RL2vt-cRhM1Us5hSFf3jJ7bB6TWFnzezBT7LNVjute-2-t3a_rXa4qePNxc/s1600/editDSCF2362.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjpn20ytcdjsRxkiTZTvQQoLJ2zfB8vPPX1X4EAWSEHyvWgKdPnuOTaVj1gnSaBlAt7OrHc02JfrK-hiJ-0RL2vt-cRhM1Us5hSFf3jJ7bB6TWFnzezBT7LNVjute-2-t3a_rXa4qePNxc/s320/editDSCF2362.jpg" width="224" /></a></div>
<br />
...and a slinky mermaid type one with little capped sleeves, for those brides with nice curves that they want to show off...<br />
<br />
I've given these to bride friends of mine in the past and they've mentioned that they've kept them as one of their keepsakes. Handmade cards are more special and worthy of being kept whether you're the one who made them or not though. The receiver gets to know they have this one of a kind card amongst their treasures, it's just nicer, okay?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyo1CxHVpxoONbAHdtPvL1HGH2n9gC3J_6iLU6SGFz2q4PvNfTNpiHggDljSQMNnroZZRLtQkg7x28ZXQ5is1sJWGJl6AKML4iQCN_dWokm6_sdbAfFTOVGwuSsSLwFcAoAhHRgx5f8So/s1600/editDSCF2363.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyo1CxHVpxoONbAHdtPvL1HGH2n9gC3J_6iLU6SGFz2q4PvNfTNpiHggDljSQMNnroZZRLtQkg7x28ZXQ5is1sJWGJl6AKML4iQCN_dWokm6_sdbAfFTOVGwuSsSLwFcAoAhHRgx5f8So/s320/editDSCF2363.jpg" width="236" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
The swirly one was done by forming the bodice, then a skeleton of the skirt which I filled in with lots of swirly bits and pieces. It's very big and princessy, and I added some pearl detail to the slim waist line of the gown.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_9bZ-b9qOl2J9szE4dI8RYcIgS0peQuWISpXVqAtjrjR-1x-NLT-jfvPmN6QRqFvMm5Mvee0gRlZZIfRH7CV25W6NBA0ZEJmXRi2GZwcQnI5cxdKOKZt0krM2nk3yMnoqaAGBZls88NI/s1600/editDSCF2355.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj_9bZ-b9qOl2J9szE4dI8RYcIgS0peQuWISpXVqAtjrjR-1x-NLT-jfvPmN6QRqFvMm5Mvee0gRlZZIfRH7CV25W6NBA0ZEJmXRi2GZwcQnI5cxdKOKZt0krM2nk3yMnoqaAGBZls88NI/s320/editDSCF2355.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
The feathered skirt gown is mimicking those ruffled tulle type gowns, but in a feathery way that I just love. We've got a ribbon around the waist and some scrapbook paper to be the 'something blue', and I love how soft and feminine this one is. This was a bit more free-form than the other two, I just created the love heart bodice and then made lots and lots of the feathery shape and built it up and up until it was at a shape I felt happy with. Delightful.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9igR4vTokP6z1u3DNJ5uULuPuUbtrqXCIHeEWUa5RJLSGntkfZhZuD458OjWAghnl3Xdu_XWliYvflz2aQN26jBz7eT8dH1JejAt0mcTEhmjHizaI9bWUeQxxCfsskZU8fSrxdw7aYew/s1600/editDSCF2346.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9igR4vTokP6z1u3DNJ5uULuPuUbtrqXCIHeEWUa5RJLSGntkfZhZuD458OjWAghnl3Xdu_XWliYvflz2aQN26jBz7eT8dH1JejAt0mcTEhmjHizaI9bWUeQxxCfsskZU8fSrxdw7aYew/s320/editDSCF2346.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
Then the mermaid dress was done similarly to the first one, with an outline being created and then filled in with teardrop shaped pieces which are a really easy shape to use for filling a space. It's so slinky and reminds me just a little of my own wedding gown, though mine was unfortunately sleeveless (it was so hard to find any with sleeves, and when I did they were for plus sized brides so I was left with no choice but to have a faux-fur made for my shoulders - you'd think these wedding gown makers would want to encourage winter weddings! Mind you on the day I had no sense of being cold because I was so excited and nervous). It's got a sweet bow at the waist, very romantic.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj5AMRB4A9rTNFY3mvHPfQMtb5FX2T1lXKG4SV2IpI-Zq2YNrIfBf1XpgdHL3LuxRON47aOpVegzqgHSIRJtTEuqrZVrlmhTqGg0CD3ImHn8TsHCjp5DEVxTwihia2UFtu_zEzd3NR6Co/s1600/editDSCF2358.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjj5AMRB4A9rTNFY3mvHPfQMtb5FX2T1lXKG4SV2IpI-Zq2YNrIfBf1XpgdHL3LuxRON47aOpVegzqgHSIRJtTEuqrZVrlmhTqGg0CD3ImHn8TsHCjp5DEVxTwihia2UFtu_zEzd3NR6Co/s320/editDSCF2358.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm working on next week's project at the moment, we're getting into this framed piece collection for the next few weeks, and this one is shaping up very nicely. Now please, remember that our give away is still going on on the Facebook page, so head over and comment to win the mask or the framed piece from last week! I'll be drawing that competition a week from today so get your entries in, I've pinned the competition photo to the top of my page.<br />

We're here, it's time to start that competition! <br />
<br />
If you were watching my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/PolkaDotParasolDesigns">Facebook page</a> you might be very eager to see more of the two prizes, as I put up cheeky sneak peaks on there of the two options. Now lets have a good look at them!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNpT6vqueNGMl6GsNX0XVKoB138dXi2hVWA2o68jyog0RsC3cSBZfCjghyphenhyphenciv2xWdZQ25Bme7aacnSBMfI2O3YH8HKNWHHlUJClVqavWP5Kpc7Nvk2mz4zgtGVpH1rSXs2eKn9IAqA4no/s1600/Comment+to+win+j.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="222" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNpT6vqueNGMl6GsNX0XVKoB138dXi2hVWA2o68jyog0RsC3cSBZfCjghyphenhyphenciv2xWdZQ25Bme7aacnSBMfI2O3YH8HKNWHHlUJClVqavWP5Kpc7Nvk2mz4zgtGVpH1rSXs2eKn9IAqA4no/s400/Comment+to+win+j.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
OPTION A: Our first option is the first ever of a new quilling venture I'm taking on, there will be more in many colours and designs, but this is your chance at the very first, in a colour scheme I like to call 'Cinderella', as it reminds me of Hillary Duff's lace mask in <em>a Cinderella Story</em>. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjne5ax6fHV_a9sCU8PgIUWcWZRTbZgxfxbtVVwGQuGm_mbfvytsvirOKrfzGRazoqSwoxCJpREIo3wL6PVGlh1Sn-2n4p-9w9Tv5KguwEdImfXODbGKymOC0W_1eUl3rn-2dso55hBdDg/s1600/DSCF2211edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjne5ax6fHV_a9sCU8PgIUWcWZRTbZgxfxbtVVwGQuGm_mbfvytsvirOKrfzGRazoqSwoxCJpREIo3wL6PVGlh1Sn-2n4p-9w9Tv5KguwEdImfXODbGKymOC0W_1eUl3rn-2dso55hBdDg/s320/DSCF2211edit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
The key to making these masks is PATIENCE. Oh, and a cheap plastic mask from a craft shop to use as a mould.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7bOADJQD-dXw5kJFOLbi2sIUqHfq9Tksa6hsAfLAqKranap52chzLDo31YuO_-Yl9ptmO8i3G-uNZt9LvaKydhZx8HlqdeRQx4RE4QWKB6PRhncZxnJux39xhPu_G6R4KaQrc1LyOCBY/s1600/DSCF2145edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg7bOADJQD-dXw5kJFOLbi2sIUqHfq9Tksa6hsAfLAqKranap52chzLDo31YuO_-Yl9ptmO8i3G-uNZt9LvaKydhZx8HlqdeRQx4RE4QWKB6PRhncZxnJux39xhPu_G6R4KaQrc1LyOCBY/s320/DSCF2145edit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I started at the centre, and did little bits at a time, waiting for sections to dry before adding more. This is essential, you could really end up with a quill-tastrophy if you tried to do it all at once! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNaAa7PB-VbFmxhoDBO6ieMZEg2PZfY4VPMbgne90435uKzbYa_DtCXXz6pyREEaHhEuwKoJxMUYO80FOJ2jqshzSf9mQeYEE6wxFRW4kwDWDqRlwFLQ-ltz2qMCbJhD7qLypdKv20-nE/s1600/DSCF2150edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNaAa7PB-VbFmxhoDBO6ieMZEg2PZfY4VPMbgne90435uKzbYa_DtCXXz6pyREEaHhEuwKoJxMUYO80FOJ2jqshzSf9mQeYEE6wxFRW4kwDWDqRlwFLQ-ltz2qMCbJhD7qLypdKv20-nE/s320/DSCF2150edit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Once it was all done I turned it over and gave it a really good coat of pva to really set that shape, at first lying it in the mask to dry for a bit, then once it was semi- hardened I put it back the right way. Next, Glitter glue! Finally, a coat of sealant spray to protect it a bit better from weather, make up and other hazards it might encounter (still, do NOT get it wet future owner! And if you are going to wear it with make up, make sure you use a make up setting spray to reduce the likelihood of staining the inside of the mask.)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbYhiGWLcnsaSUdRyPrHAoFhOhr2fGUvHOmmed4AhNl81rEs0n6xyKjdm3JI6IOFBdCH98St5KwtVe4Y56dULjaNDoqfEm1BBp_34S_Yyt4sCGmhT52v8ci6HxOJa9Ew6YjUhMbHoad5k/s1600/DSCF2188edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbYhiGWLcnsaSUdRyPrHAoFhOhr2fGUvHOmmed4AhNl81rEs0n6xyKjdm3JI6IOFBdCH98St5KwtVe4Y56dULjaNDoqfEm1BBp_34S_Yyt4sCGmhT52v8ci6HxOJa9Ew6YjUhMbHoad5k/s320/DSCF2188edit.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I haven't added a stick or ribbon yet as if the winner has chosen this I want them to pick, but I think pre-made ones will be all on sticks and custom orders will get the choice. I really must get my online shop open again...<br />
<br />
<br />
OPTION B:<br />
<br />
<br />
For those not interested in owning the mask, and perhaps looking for something pretty to place on a wall or bookshelf, perhaps in a nursery....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_N4z9ucfliLl3iWA_aBmFhGCVUaHkPmNKm4rhlJReYNmWMGSfd_ebE90rrv1X-WauqBc47xOctF4_2Eec5LzD02VmeFYLGSrIBfMWFQ0a8eIQL5TEDXaqxtXyQrUizoXTNHiea2wD36w/s1600/DSCF2325edit.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_N4z9ucfliLl3iWA_aBmFhGCVUaHkPmNKm4rhlJReYNmWMGSfd_ebE90rrv1X-WauqBc47xOctF4_2Eec5LzD02VmeFYLGSrIBfMWFQ0a8eIQL5TEDXaqxtXyQrUizoXTNHiea2wD36w/s320/DSCF2325edit.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This sweet little apple tree houses a little blue bird, with a cheery little yellow flower at the base. This would be great in a baby's room, for either gender as it's a nice gender-neutral colour scheme. The frame is white, so it would suit pretty much any home décor. <br />

Such a cheery image. I made the tree trunk much more detailed than I usually do with my trees, using two shades of brown and lots of lines and swirly bits.</div>

I particularly like the idea of this being given to a Mummy-to-be for the nursery. It's such a brightly coloured piece without being over the top or loud.<br />

My Favourite Quilling Project so far- Week 29: Imagine...Create! <br />
<br />
~Which has now been sold, and its new owner is donating it to decorate the walls of respite home <a href="http://www.arafmiqld.org/?page=84">Coolibah House</a>, where I hope it will do the job of inspiring its patrons to make their own wonderful art! Couldn't think of a more perfect place for something special like that to go. I can make more of this one too as I drew an extra of the silhouette and I have all the fonts (the quilling wouldn't be identical though - I'm not a machine!), so if anyone wants to place a custom order with that look it can and will be done.~<br />
<br />

Let's see if we can make the next hundred have even better stats!<br />

Next week we'll be turning to the subject of romance once again, and watching as the entries for the competition continue to fly in.<br />

Thank you all, dear readers.<br />

My husband and I have been married for 5 years as of this coming Friday! We've made a pretty good team so far, he's my best friend, and the most awesome little boy, so I would say it's been a very successful 5 years. <br />
<br />
Did you know that the traditional gift thing for 5 years is wood? We didn't really need anything made of wood, so we are just going to go on a date one night instead. But my craft involves paper, and paper comes from wood, and this week's project is to celebrate our anniversary, so that counts right?<br />
<br />
I saw this design in teeny-tiny calligraphy form in my calligraphy book a while back, and instantly wanted to quill it, but nice and big.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYggHD08cRKrVF1pCyfHv13d6EhRsRN9CV_U_qLGW6d1tQDJ_tnSyYWcN5LmJD8VC1iBCJq-eZr8odILQW0C0mJ32VLTX1O7VaSKWoVQAsBM-FgRlgo-xS8xvGdrRiZgf-M1-cFgpW9Uk/s1600/DSCF1680.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYggHD08cRKrVF1pCyfHv13d6EhRsRN9CV_U_qLGW6d1tQDJ_tnSyYWcN5LmJD8VC1iBCJq-eZr8odILQW0C0mJ32VLTX1O7VaSKWoVQAsBM-FgRlgo-xS8xvGdrRiZgf-M1-cFgpW9Uk/s320/DSCF1680.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I got clever for a moment and drew it in the size I wanted, then quilled the shapes using the husking technique (for those not aware of what the husking technique is, check out my week seven butterfly post). For this it was a good way to get the shapes just right for the lettering, though the transfer process was a bit tricky as they all link together and didn't retain their shape so well once I took the pins away.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipVywA4WegVYZ71N3wmLPGJgkwrtrXlz3LWL3DxlThExPIsOWGeW7VnFpyvb1R8fPOq5gsAxH4PdZ97nUyjoqpuaEPLDRVdtz2QTwgDxdNPF0t-rgdGNU4IUdT0WP56mfyN-HhdRnML4g/s1600/DSCF1631.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipVywA4WegVYZ71N3wmLPGJgkwrtrXlz3LWL3DxlThExPIsOWGeW7VnFpyvb1R8fPOq5gsAxH4PdZ97nUyjoqpuaEPLDRVdtz2QTwgDxdNPF0t-rgdGNU4IUdT0WP56mfyN-HhdRnML4g/s320/DSCF1631.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Careful gluing to the card was required to get them sitting just right, but it turned out just right. I briefly toyed with the idea of adding swirly bits and fill to the letters, but the thought was very brief indeed because I just love the simple look to this, and I think them being swirly bit free keeps the focus on the heart and just really makes the card pop.<br />

This is a fun mod card and I'd happily make more despite the complexity. Now I can't wait to get this giveaway going, I've been working on one of the choices (yes, the winner gets to pick their prize!) and it's so special and exciting I'm going to give you a sneak peek at it on my <a href="https://www.facebook.com/PolkaDotParasolDesigns">Facebook page</a>, so keep an eye out for that pickie and then next week we'll get the 100th Blog post celebration and giveaway underway!<br />
<br />
If you're in Brisbane Australia remember to come see me at the All Saint's Winter Markets, 501 Hamilton Road Chermside this Saturday (the 22nd) from 7am to 12pm. <br />

Hi People! Just popping in to let you know that next Saturday I'll be hauling my goodies to the Winter Markets at All Saints Anglican Church, Chermside QLD!<br />
<br />
The Winter Market is on from 7am(!!) to 12pm on the 22nd of June. I'll be sharing a table with several special and talented ladies, so be sure to stop by and take a look. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiVFQCAQPEgYLjodDCWcKijioiq_IFxLYUuxBISunCyeUjbN03GcaIKogjPXNawVuzPovIjRGtah6nvNWLJUkzz2YAL90uwEws2cZ91ou2W_51_uzC3VUjnRPDc5po99T3qp6l56BpaAk/s1600/DSCF2123b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiVFQCAQPEgYLjodDCWcKijioiq_IFxLYUuxBISunCyeUjbN03GcaIKogjPXNawVuzPovIjRGtah6nvNWLJUkzz2YAL90uwEws2cZ91ou2W_51_uzC3VUjnRPDc5po99T3qp6l56BpaAk/s320/DSCF2123b.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I've upgraded my market system by protecting my cards in fancy plastic slips and with proper printed price stickers like I used to do. I think it makes for a more professional look and it keeps the goods protected and clean for the buyers. Pricing them with nice stickers is yet to come.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEkYZdrjg5QsK6wN0qHWTT4YdcAEN5yu8LWxhPFYCaXzcO4ehOmRX-zCLWIYFMqBjfleStOAY2IkcfIzTKcOj95BAwQ7O5kBNDJlIa6gG1a9B-YlejtjfnxS-cVfVegaWFlsM3n2XEGxo/s1600/DSCF2126b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEkYZdrjg5QsK6wN0qHWTT4YdcAEN5yu8LWxhPFYCaXzcO4ehOmRX-zCLWIYFMqBjfleStOAY2IkcfIzTKcOj95BAwQ7O5kBNDJlIa6gG1a9B-YlejtjfnxS-cVfVegaWFlsM3n2XEGxo/s320/DSCF2126b.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
In the mean time I'll be quilling like crazy to make this stock pile bigger!<br />
<br />
<br />
AND...<br />
<br />
<br />
We are just two posts away from my 100TH Blog Post!! I'm so impressed with myself for getting here (and we definitely have my year of weekly quilling to thank for that), that I've decided to celebrate with another GIVEAWAY! I'll announce the details in that post along with some fun stats about the blog to mark the occasion and to give me something to look back at in the future. <br />
<br />
The prize will be a choice between two things, one of which I am currently making, and it's another very different technique to things I've made before. I haven't decided on the other option yet, so let me know if there's anything I've made that you'd love to win!<br />
<br />
Stay tuned for two weeks from now and make sure you enter to win.<br />
<br />
See you next week!<br />

Are you ready for some tiny and adorable things?<br />
<br />
These could be great as a gift to a little girl (or boy, some boys like it too) who likes to play house with Barbies or one of those Sylvanian families or something. Though you'd have to make sure to tell her (or him) to be gentle and never let them get wet. Or maybe someone would like these for their miniatures collection, and put it in a cabinet with all their other tiny pretties.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
We've got two tea sets and some flowering pot plants! With my quilling tool in the background to give you an idea of their tininess. Adorable right?<br />

All very sweet don't you think? The flowers would look nice in a doll house, or maybe outside in the doll's garden. I'm surprised with how well the gerberas look. The leaves in this shot are still drying, I coated them in glue to make sure they don't become misshapen. I actually had to look up what they look like, I couldn't remember the leaf shape!<br />
<br />
Next week we get all lovey-dovey because my 5th wedding anniversary is coming up!<br />
