Markets, Quest and I've Madeit!

Well my sales on Sunday the 13th of June didn't go any better than the last one, but I broke even so that is fine. As long as I break even every time I'll be happy. Lots of lovely ladies were admiring but not buying, and lots of them asked if I taught quilling, so perhaps I should be looking to sell 'how to' sheets and starter packs. I'm going to contact a company that sells the quilling tool and see if I can start selling the tools at the markets as well. 

The table looked lovely, I know if I'd been a shopper I definitely would have stopped at our table. Rosey did very well, I'm so happy for my market buddy and I hope our stall becomes more popular with every Sunday that we go.

These vintage bottles for sale in Rosey's half of the store are so so pretty. And this little bag of babushkas are sooooo cute!

One of my gift boxes, which as it turns out, I held up while a photographer from quest newspaper took a photo of Rosey and I! I have my doubts that it will ever actually be in the paper, but if it was that would be super cool and free advertising to boot :) even if it doesn't get in the paper, he took our photo just like he did for lots of other stalls and shops there, which makes me happy to be fitting in and looking like a real market stall, worth photographing.

I think that my low sales may in part be due to my prices, and also in part due to not having a wide enough variety of designs. On our first stall I had lots of flower, dragonfly and butterfly cards sell, so I went home from there and made lots of them, and now thats mainly what I've got, so I think I went too far with it. I'll start work on some new designs as soon as the uni week from hell is over.

 Meanwhile, in my other sales division, I've just sold the framed green butterfly on madeit!!!

It is so beautiful, I'll miss it, but its better to be on display in someone's beautiful home than sitting in a storage box here isn't it. I'll make more and then hopefully find homes for them too :)

Another Milestone

The Dragonfly Card!














Dragonflies and butterflies seem to be my area of expertise, so I think I'll be making more like them. Having sold 18 items now (yes, that's right, my lucky number again), I feel quite giddy. I think I'll celebrate by making more cards :)

I'm also going to make some gift tags to sell in sets at the next market that we go to. Stay tuned to the How To Quill series, I'm going to make part two today and probably post it tonight or tomorrow. I've also been given a tip on a good way to display my beautiful cards and I'll be making that soon too, so lots more posting to come this week.

I think I need to have a cup of tea to calm myself down.

The Shop is Open Again! And Markets!

That's right, I'm back so the shop is open again! Yay!

And tomorrow I will be there, at the Petrie Markets, in person, selling lots of the goodies that you've seen here on my blog. I will be taking a camera and give you a detailed report of my sales achievements when the day is done. If however you can't wait that long and are in the Brisbane area, come along! It's a beautiful property, full of lovely stalls with all sorts of goodies, and I'm sure that if you want something for you, or a loved one, say, your mother *hint hint*, there would be plenty of options for anything from a gift to a card to give her, even at my very own stall with my very own Rosey.

MADEIT SHOP CLOSED 24th April-2nd May

My Madeit Shop is Closed from today, Until the 2ND of May.

Okay, I know this is silly, but now that my shop has been open for like, four days or whatever, I'm temporarily shutting it down while I go on holidays.

Well, it isn't quite how it sounds. The holiday has been planned for months, the whole opening a shop thing didn't even become a definite thing until like a month ago. And I was going to wait until after our holiday to open it, but I was excited and didn't want to wait. Now I'll have to live with the embarrassment. But it's worth it, because I've been working a lot, with university full time, and this shop thing, I've been very busy, pretty much every day for two months now. And my husband longs to teach me how to fish, so how can I deny him that joy?

Am I scared I will end up being the one who gets a hook through their finger? YES. But I've made a commitment and I will not flake out, so to speak.


But I remind you, on the 2ND of MAY I will be at the PETRIE MARKETS with my aunty Rosey , selling a lot of the items displayed both here, on my Facebook page, and in the flikr photostream to the right of this post. The 2ND of MAY. 8am-2pm. There. Selling. Come. Buy things. Point and laugh at me while I make chit chat with customers.

I keep the items I sell at the markets and the items I put up on madeit.com.au separate, so none of the items on there are going to disappear on Sunday at the market, but everything else might.

If there is something you've seen that you like, you'd better show up early in the day to get it, because I can't guarantee some early bird won't take it before you've had the chance. Bring your friends, family, llamas, whoever you want. It's a great place.

Still waiting on the business cards sadly :( I hope they arrive tomorrow, I'll be out of town most of next week :/ wouldn't want them to get left on the doorstep, and what if it rains *slight panic*, but I will post when they finally arrive.

I'm going to go have a cup of tea before I stress myself into a stupor.
