Christmas Time is Near...

Christmas is my absolute favourite holiday, bar none.

I never see my birthday as a big deal, I am not exactly an attention seeker so it always feels weird to have everyone paying attention to me and giving me stuff, I feel almost guilty that people have to give me stuff just because I was born. And really, my mum made the effort that day not me, so it should be her party really shouldn't it? I guess it's a worldly tradition that I'll never understand, but I just go along with it.

I find Easter a bit of a downer given that it's about Jesus dying and stuff. I get the whole thing where he rises and that's why we celebrate, but it feels a little like a long stretch to get to an excuse to eat an insane amount of chocolate. But hey, who needs an excuse? If I want chocolate I'll have chocolate, no special holiday needed. Although I am trying to cut back to stop the equation of (age+chocolate=chubby) from finally taking me.

But Christmas, ah, Christmas is so happy and warm. For me Christmas means family, and I have a big extended family of wonderful people that I just love to see. My main problem at Christmas is too much family, not enough hours in the day. But wherever I end up on Christmas day, it's always a happy place full of at least some of those dearest to me.

And the time leading up to Christmas is so exciting, there's a funny energy everywhere you go, and I love buying presents for people (provided I know what to get them of course).
I get to decorate the house with Christmas cheer, which seems to make me happy for the entire time they're up, and I always get crafty around Christmas time too.

The above is a collection of a few of my lovely decorations, mostly items I've collected from various little shops, plus some I've made myself. I am very selective when it comes to decorations, I have a colour scheme (purple, maroon, aqua, gold and silver), and I search for precious, special items that are hard to come by, and I add a few new items each year. The two lollies in front are new, and so is the purple tinsel and the 'noel' sign. I've also bought myself a Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra & Nat King Cole Christmas compilation set, because I feel that music really adds to the ambiance of Christmas. I have heaps of other decorations (including lights and a bigger tree).

The tree and the presents are all made by me, including little candy canes made from beads and wire, which are fun to hang on the tree. I loved making it, and I'm tempted to make some for presents for people.

In front here is Bernard the Snowman, and this is his wonderland. He dances and his cheeks glow red and he sings 'Walking in a Winter Wonderland', which isn't very Australian, but he's just so cute, I think he can sing whatever he wants.

I can't wait for it to be time to put up all the decorations. *sigh* I just love Christmas.

Happy (coming) Holidays,

My Favourite Colours

When I was little my Dad asked me what my favourite colour was, and I am told I responded with, "Pink, Purple and Pinky-Purple". As darling as I'm sure it was for me to respond with this very girly answer, it sounds silly now, but it is largely true to this day. Maybe add in duck egg blue and turquoise, and then you've pretty much got it.

There's my lei, my piggy bank, my perfume bottle, a parasole, a cupie doll, my fancy dress mask that I'm yet to actually have an excuse to use, and some ribbon.

Here's a close up of my mask, you can't see that there is a gold wooden mask holder stick thingy hiding underneath the lei.

So that's a little about me, welcome to my blog, I hope the above photos have made you want to go watch a girly movie or paint your toenails or something with it's massive girliness.
